Perplexity has unveiled Portable Computer, a locally running version of its February Personal Computer agent, debuting on Windows and Linux. Models, files, and task execution stay on-device, with online access only when needed—promising faster performance, tighter security, and lower costs—while still connecting to Google Drive, Gmail, Slack, and GitHub. The catch: Windows users need an RTX GPU with at least 24GB of VRAM.
