Researcher alleges METR's funders overlap with Anthropic investors, questioning its independence

Kevin Bass has been tracing the funding of AI safety evaluator METR, arguing its major grants flow through Coefficient, backed by Dustin Moskovitz's Good Ventures Foundation (GVF), which sits on surging Anthropic stock. He notes many of METR's funders are also Anthropic investors, and suggests METR started reporting major safety incidents after raising large funds. Earlier posts in the thread claim roughly half of potential evaluators are funded via the same money chain, and highlight close ties between METR and Redwood Research. These are personal investigative claims, unverified by officials.
