AI safety researchers argue labs' silence on x-risk is a large-scale ethical mistake

Asya Bergal argues that people at AI labs who genuinely understand the dangers of the systems they build have a non-optional obligation to inform the public, since those risks are taken on behalf of everyone — and underinvesting in communication is a large-scale ethical mistake that justifies future public anger and betrayal.
David Krueger agrees wholeheartedly, adding a striking observation: many people deeply concerned about AI x-risk make little effort to get even their own families and friends to understand the concern — understandable, but striking nonetheless.
