AI Researchers Put ~18% Probability on AI Causing Human Extinction, Survey Finds

The latest round of the longest-running survey of AI researchers finds that, on average, respondents estimate an 18% probability — nearly 1 in 5 — that AI will cause human extinction or similarly permanent and severe disempowerment of humanity.
