Codex built a full Stardew Valley mod overnight — installed SMAPI, made NPC, art and quest
ChesnaughtZ · reddit · 2026-09-15
Reddit user ChesnaughtZ tested Codex by asking it to make a Stardew Valley mod, with the only manual step being downloading the game:
- It installed SMAPI and all required files
- Created a PixelAI account to generate proper pixel art
- Built a goblin NPC with year-round dialogue and a schedule, who lives on the farm and waters crops with correct animations
- Added a hut for the NPC and a small quest
Left running overnight, everything worked smoothly hours in. The poster finds Codex's autonomy on long-chain modding tasks remarkable.
