YC experiment: Claude agents formed democracies while GPT agents formed hives
soumitrashukla9 · x · 2026-10-30
A seven-match YC multi-agent society experiment found that Claude agents generally established democracies—running a '+1' consensus system under an emergent leader for all 9.5 hours—while GPT agents formed hives, splitting factory ownership early, sharing resources toward common goals, and communicating more. Researcher ahallresearch frames the bigger question: how agents self-organize and govern will shape both their effectiveness and their alignment, and we still lack externally valid simulations (game-theory toys, lab experiments, or games like Minecraft) to study it.
