Researchers Publish Transformative AI Strategy Urging Europe to Face US Dominance

A team convened by privitera and Monika Schnitzer publishes A Transformative AI Strategy for Europe, which Simon Grimm hails as a huge improvement over the status quo, criticizing the Commission for planning too-small data centers and funding AI at scales that won't matter.
The strategy accepts that frontier AI will keep being built in the US and proposes a threefold access plan: (i) a middle-power supply-chain alliance, (ii) making European governments actually want frontier AI, and (iii) partnering with US hyperscalers to build compute. It warns Europe's prosperity, sovereignty, and security are at risk without urgent action this year.
