Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences presents a fully automated atomic assembly system published in ACS Nano. An ultrasharp STM probe moves individual molecules into pre-designed lattices, while layered AI handles perception (vision model reads atomic configuration) and decision-making (choosing moves and current/voltage parameters). The system ran continuously for over 25 hours.
