Amazon Proposes Query-Aware Index Pruning to Optimize Retrieval Under Budget Constraints
_reachsumit · x · 2026-09-14
Amazon Science published a new framework, Query-Aware Index Pruning for Retrieval Under Budget Constraints.
Key idea: instead of scoring documents by intrinsic quality, the method scores them by how well they serve expected queries, then prunes the index accordingly to maximize retrieval quality under storage/compute budgets. Paper and code are linked on the Amazon Science page.
