Security researchers Hugo Matousek, SeungHyun Sung and Zhuo Zhang launched The Decompilation Book, a blog-series-style tutorial inspired by The Fuzzing Book, teaching how compilers' inverse — decompilation — works, with hands-on code via their tiny-dec project.

Notably, while building SRE-Bench they watched GPT-6 Astra solve nearly every challenge in the benchmark's first version, prompting a harder sequel and a reflection: as AI takes over reverse engineering, beginner-friendly resources on the fundamentals remain scarce.
