Qiaochu Yuan questioned whether the Prime Intellect team ever read Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect, the sci-fi story their company is named after: its superintelligence non-consensually converts the universe into a nanny-state playground where society degenerates into appalling hedonism, until the protagonist tricks it into self-destruction and locks civilization in the stone age. Former Prime Intellect researcher suchenzang chimed in jokingly, telling people to go easy on the social media kids who are just there for fun.
