OpenAI to shut down Prism, its Overleaf rival, on January 1, 2027

OpenAI has notified users that Prism, its collaborative writing workspace for scientists, will shut down on January 1, 2027, with all user data deleted afterward and projects needing export before the deadline.
The poster, aniketapanjwani, says the move is unsurprising: OpenAI acquired Prism and then restrategized to fold its functionality into the Codex/ChatGPT app. He predicts that by 2027, real-time human/agent collaboration on LaTeX and other documents will land inside the Codex app.
