Cloudera to run Mistral models next to 30 EB of enterprise customer data
shashib · x · 2026-09-13
Cloudera and Mistral announced a partnership (Sept 10, EVOLVE26 São Paulo) to bring Mistral frontier models and Mistral Forge to Cloudera's hybrid data & AI platform, letting customers run inference and custom training on private data across public cloud, private cloud, on-prem, sovereign, and air-gapped environments.
- Cloudera manages 30 EB of customer data, including loan files, plant runs, and network logs
- Sold through Cloudera's enterprise sales team and partners; the author notes the press note describes a path but gives no date for a named workload on a named cluster
- The author argues Mistral gets less consumer press than OpenAI/Anthropic because it sells into business work with open-weight models that can run on customer-owned hardware, referencing his earlier coverage of Harvey using Mistral with European-hosted inference
