Frontier labs urged to join BSI, ISO, IEC AI standards committees already courting DeepMind

Responding to Demis Hassabis's endorsement of Dario's essay and a proposal for an industry-wide frontier AI standards body, the author points out that established standards organizations already run AI committees: BSI (UK), Standards4EU and VDE (Europe), and IEC and ISO (international) — most of which have directly reached out to Google DeepMind.

Frontier labs engaging in these committees could effectively lead the work, addressing a real representation gap. A bonus: these bodies connect to thousands of independent test labs that, out of self-interest, will evaluate frontier models and introduce them into AI-cautious industries — a win-win all around.
