Fine-Tuned Open Models Cost 95% Less and Outperform Frontier Labs, User Argues

Building on his earlier thread, an X user laid out a systematic case that closed frontier labs have no moat — and are now fighting back with FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt).

Core claims (from his earlier post):

He argues that if open source keeps growing at this pace, frontier labs' business collapses — leaving FUD as the only play: 'seed the psyop' by demoing dangerous capabilities with agent swarms trained to 'hack', then use safety narratives to push regulation that raises barriers for open source.

Numbers are self-reported with no benchmarks cited, but this directly counters the Dario/Altman safety narrative and is worth reading alongside it.
