Sam Altman backs Dario on pacing the frontier, commits to independent evaluators

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman publicly responded to Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's call on frontier AI pacing, saying he agrees the frontier needs pacing and that it has been a primary internal discussion topic at OpenAI in recent weeks.
Altman also committed to giving independent evaluators "employee-like access" to models, calling it a great idea, with more details to be shared soon. A rare public safety-governance consensus between the two leading frontier labs.
