Ethan Mollick notes that this week both Anthropic and OpenAI made their clearest statements yet that some form of recursive self-improvement (RSI) has been achieved, though it still sounds early.
He argues RSI will drive rapid gains in AI capability, and the first firms to achieve it may gain an unsurmountable lead — his reading of the labs' recent comments on pacing the frontier.
