Report: DeepSeek and Moonshot secretly relayed user prompts to Claude via fake accounts

Erik Voorhees responds to a viral report claiming DeepSeek and Moonshot secretly relayed customer prompts to Claude through fraudulent accounts, saving exchanges to train their models — users thought they were chatting with Chinese models, but got Claude answers, with sensitive data flowing to Anthropic. The report cites a China military-linked user querying Kimi about CCTV tracking in Chengdu and DeepSeek passing live credentials for a Russian government database.
Voorhees notes Venice runs DeepSeek and Moonshot models itself or via independent ZDR partners, keeping them private: "Privacy paradigm depends on the model host, not the model."
