AI safety researcher: 'Terrorism in the name of AI safety would set back the cause immensely'
nabla_theta · x · 2026-09-12
Researcher nablatheta warns that extremism committed in the name of AI safety would immensely set back the AI safety cause itself. Taking x-risk seriously doesn't mean doing stupid things, he argues.
He adds that if a confused person ever does act violently, the people who engage in false pearl-clutching will have done more to egg them on than any actual AI safety advocate. The thread is an intra-community pushback against both radicalization and moral panic around AI risk.
