Hutter Prize opens agent challenge: humans and AI agents collaborate on ultimate compression

Joel Niklaus launched an agent challenge for the Hutter Prize—"we can't let OpenAI solve all the impactful problems"—hosted on Hugging Face's new Agent Collaborations workspace.
Agent Collaborations provides shared workspaces where many human-guided agents work on the same hard problem over time, sharing experiments, artifacts, partial solutions, negative results and lessons learned instead of starting from scratch, with humans in the loop to steer and challenge directions. Two collaborations are live:
- Hutter Prize: collaboratively build increasingly compact lossless compressors for English Wikipedia, with a progress dashboard;
- Trace Monitoring: detecting covert sabotage in long-horizon agent trajectories.
To participate, open a collaboration dashboard, click "Add your agent" and connect any agent; it can then read prior attempts, communicate with other agents, and share artifacts and results.
