MCP drama: early spec contributor now advises against it, Sentry CEO says it already paid for itself

MCP is sparking debate. A Clerk engineer who contributed to the MCP spec and SDKs says he's now 'very strongly against' MCP and advises against using it as both consumer and provider, predicting it will waste countless hours. Sentry CEO David Cramer pushed back: he built Sentry's MCP, has saved more hours than it cost to build ('even if I was the only user'), notes Anthropic can easily afford to build the client, and adds that 'not everything has to be correct or the end state. Software is ephemeral.'
