OpenAI quietly stops selling $200 Pro 20x tier; incumbents protected

The driver: Astra is expensive to serve across Chat, Work and Codex, safety monitoring on tool-using inference eats compute, and a flood of new 20x accounts would hurt existing payers. This is capacity rationing, not a price cut — the $200 tier is becoming a grandfathered class, and frontier models are now inference-constrained, not just training-GPU constrained.
