MIT's wireless nanoantennas kill brain cancer cells, 5x more effective than chemo

MIT researchers developed 150 nm injectable nanoantennas that can be activated wirelessly through the skull to generate highly localized electric fields, selectively killing drug-resistant glioblastoma cells without harming healthy tissue.
- In lab tests the treatment destroyed 52.2% of patient-derived cancer cells — over 5x the effect of standard chemotherapy — while sparing healthy neurons
- In mice, it strongly suppressed tumor growth, extended median survival by more than 50%, and showed no detectable major organ toxicity
