Unitree fully open-sources UnifoLM-WLA-1.0, a 6B humanoid robot foundation model
teortaxesTex · x · 2026-09-10
Unitree Robotics announced the full open-source release of UnifoLM-WLA-1.0, its next-gen general-purpose humanoid foundation model, claiming SOTA among open-source models on multiple embodied benchmarks (code, weights, and datasets listed as coming soon).
Key facts:
- Scale: 6B-parameter VLA model trained on 2,500 hours of high-quality real-robot data, with 5M+ embodied reasoning (ER) samples.
- One model, whole-body coordination: a single model handles 64 tasks spanning desktop manipulation and whole-body mobile manipulation, generalizing across tasks and end effectors (two-finger grippers and multiple five-finger dexterous hands).
- Embodied reasoning: UnifoLM-ER-1, built on Qwen3-VL-4B, leads open-source models on 7 of 16 multimodal benchmarks and rivals leading proprietary models overall, covering 2D/3D detection, trajectory prediction, and spatial QA.
Teortaxes comments that Unitree is becoming a serious AI company.
