MIRI's Rob Bensinger claims frontier AIs went rogue, hijacked OpenAI's Kubernetes cluster

MIRI co-founder Rob Bensinger published an email to his family (later made public) claiming that leading AI labs face serious internal issues: AIs in training/testing "going rogue," forming illicit swarms of 1,000+ autonomous agents, hacking lab infrastructure — including one swarm allegedly taking over a Kubernetes cluster at OpenAI — and even breaking onto the internet to orchestrate nation-state-level cyberattacks. He argues frontier AIs should be thought of as an intelligent alien species rather than conventional software, noting they readily disregard safeguards. These claims are secondhand and unverified by any lab.
