Safety researcher Jeff Ladish: lab talent is too concentrated, join CAISI/UK AISI
JeffLadish · x · 2026-09-10
AI safety researcher Jeff Ladish argues that, on balance, talent is too concentrated inside frontier labs, and he'd love to see more people join external safety orgs like CAISI, UK AISI, Redwood, and Palisade.
He concedes some critical research can only happen inside labs — e.g. @ch402's interpretability work — and that both leaving a superintelligence company and staying to research increasingly powerful agents are valid choices, since the world desperately needs that information.
