Developer zats released Passtrami, an open-source macOS menu bar app that lets AI coding agents access Apple Passwords securely.
- Design: Inspired by 1Password's Environments MCP, it delivers passwords directly to the program that needs them without ever putting plaintext values in MCP tool responses.
- Security: Every password request requires explicit user approval via TouchID, with unlocking handled by the menu bar app.
- Usage: Enable MCP in Settings, paste the config into Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, and the agent handles setup. An optional CLI (passtrami list, passtrami get) covers terminal and scripting use.
Apple offers no official Passwords MCP, so this fills a real gap for agent workflows.
