Developer vu0tran reveals Meta's Muse was mostly complete in May, well before competitor Instinct, but the launch was held back to RL-train Muse Spark and get privacy and security right.
He admits that, as a YC founder steeped in "launch now!" culture, he wanted to ship before competitors — but Mark Zuckerberg personally pushed the timeline back to prioritize privacy. The author says Zuckerberg's privacy focus was almost painful, and concedes he may have been right.
