EPFL lab lead says he shifted his entire lab to AI alignment and safety research
maksym_andr · x · 2026-09-09
An EPFL lab lead endorsed a call for researchers to reconsider the conditions under which superintelligent RL systems are developed, saying he sharply shifted his lab's focus to AI alignment and safety a year ago. He argues safety is today's key challenge in AI and that scaling to superintelligence without rigorous understanding is unjustified, hoping more researchers adopt this view.
