DeepMind launches AlphaGenome Atlas predicting effects of all 9 billion single-letter DNA changes
yawnxyz · x · 2026-09-08
Google DeepMind has released AlphaGenome Atlas, an AI-powered searchable database mapping predicted effects of roughly 9 billion possible single-letter DNA changes in the human genome — a one-petabyte map covering impacts on gene expression, RNA splicing, protein production and other molecular processes.
It's especially significant for the 98% of the genome that doesn't encode proteins but regulates when and where genes activate. Observers call it a potential AlphaFold-like moment for understanding the regulatory genome.
