Phillip Isola: Computer-Use Agents Paving the Way for 'Robot-Use Agents'

CSProfKGD · x · 2026-09-08

MIT professor Phillip Isola published a short blog post on recent demos of AI agents (like Claude) controlling robots, calling it an important change in the trajectory of robotics.

His core intuition: controlling a robot isn't so different from computer use — an agent good at one is probably good at the other, and vice versa. The take has been endorsed and amplified by robotics researchers including Vincent Sitzmann.
