OpenAI researcher willdepue pushed back on rumors that OpenAI researchers spied on Tristan's private Codex chats, arguing it's essentially impossible: like other large regulated online platforms, OpenAI has tightly locked-down user data access permissions — "it's not 2010."
He was responding to a quoted post suggesting that if OpenAI had trained on or used private user conversations, users would need to reevaluate its products and it could be a big win for open-source AI.
