AI agent Astra beats Wally bot at chess, finds forced mate in 2 by move 29

Mike Frank shared the results of his AI agent Astra at chess: after several engine improvements and with a 1-hour clock plus flexible move timing, Astra thoroughly beat Wally bot with a mid-game queen-rook fork, a final advantage of +20 points, and checkmate on move 31.

Frank published Astra's engine evaluation for each move: by move 29 the home-grown engine had found a forced mate in 2. Notably, Astra used no opening book or endgame database at all. Frank praised the combination of deliberative strategy and strong tactics, while stubborn Wally refused to resign even with a forced mate on the board.
