GPT-6 Astra Taught Itself Factorio in 15 Minutes, Building a Working Mine
Cklly2004 · reddit · 2026-09-08
Derya Unutmaz let GPT-6 Astra figure out Factorio from scratch. Unable to use the keyboard at first, it wrote its own plugin to interact with the game, then in 15 minutes at medium reasoning effort explored the map, found an iron deposit, chopped trees for fuel, built and fueled a mining drill, placed a stone furnace, located coal on the map, and mined and loaded it — all without step-by-step guidance. Factorio's compounding early mistakes make it a compelling test of autonomous agents.
