NeurIPS's registration quota controversy continues. Notable researcher Andrew G. Wilson says he turned down multiple satellite workshop invites expecting to attend the main Sydney event, but under the rule allowing only one presenting author per paper to register, even his student co-authors won't be able to go. Zachary Lipton had already criticized the system for locking out busy senior faculty, urging conferences to prioritize faculty slots. The policy has sparked broad community backlash.
