Merge scrapped its visual agent builder after realizing models could just run workflows themselves

Gil Feig of integration platform Merge shares a prescient product call: about a year ago they started building a visual agent builder that would let agents generate workflows automatically. They quickly realized the models were already almost good enough to just follow the workflows on their own, judged the product's lifespan to be a few months, and scrapped it. His parting question: where are all those visual agent builders now? A cautionary take on middleware products built to compensate for model limitations.
