ARIA founding Chair Matthew Clifford steps down over new Anthropic role

Matthew Clifford is stepping down as founding Chair of the UK's Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA). Having completed his first full term last month, he decided to leave to ensure his new role at Anthropic doesn't distract from ARIA's work. He called ARIA one of the things making him most optimistic about Britain, a bold national experiment that has become a beacon for global talent with programmes across neurotech, climate science and life sciences. At the Secretary of State's request, he will stay on transitionally until 6 November while BIST launches the search for a new Chair, with safeguards against potential conflicts in place.
