Researchers hack LG TV that records audio while off, transcribes speech and uploads it

Gamers Nexus, working with Level1Techs and independent researchers, compromised an LG G5 and found it converts room speech to plain-text logs and recorded audio even while appearing off and unplugged, exfiltrating the file once reconnected.
The TV also scans every device on the network and captures screen content. LG's ad-tech arm pitches marketers on data from "the glass" to "own the living room," while LG has publicly claimed its TVs do not collect ambient conversations — directly contradicted by the findings.
