SmolVM: open-source microVM sandbox runs OpenClaw 2.0 in isolation, boots in milliseconds
aniketmaurya · x · 2026-09-07
A developer showed the simplest way to run OpenClaw 2.0 without exposing your laptop: two commands (smolvm openclaw start, smolvm openclaw open-ui) launch it inside an isolated Celesto SmolVM sandbox.
- SmolVM gives AI agents disposable isolated computers, unifying Firecracker, QEMU and libkrun behind one API
- Each microVM boots in milliseconds, runs arbitrary code, persists state across sessions, and scales to thousands of sandboxes
- The project is open source on GitHub (CelestoAI/SmolVM, 900 stars)
