4-month-old Chinese startup Atomelody debuts Melo-1, beating AlphaFold3 on most benchmarks

Shenzhen-based Atomelody, founded just 4 months ago, released Melo-1Preview, an all-atom biomolecular foundation model that beats AlphaFold3 on most evaluations for peptide, small-molecule, antibody, and RNA tasks, leading outright on protein-peptide and protein-ligand benchmarks. The model targets highly flexible ring peptides and complex binding poses where AF3-like models struggle, bakes physical/chemical constraints into the architecture to ensure structurally valid outputs, and achieves better performance per parameter. With AF3 weights closed to commercial use, Chinese pharma must build its own. The core team previously cracked 10+ GPCR targets with wet-lab validation; a full version and a design-loop platform are coming.
