GPT + Apify + Apollo: a pipeline that hunts companies ranking on Google but missing from AI search

The author built an end-to-end pipeline for an AI SEO outbound campaign targeting a new gap: companies that rank on Google but vanish from AI answers, where competitors take their place.
- Research: started from 24 commercial buyer questions, then Apify ran each across Google, ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, Google AI Overview and Google AI Mode.
- Filter logic: the agent kept companies ranking on Google but missing from at least one AI answer where a competitor appeared.
- Review app: Codex turned the research into a local review app showing each company's buyer question, Google position, missing AI searches, the recommended competitor, likely buyers and source links, with approve/reject and reasons.
- Buyers via Apollo: contacts were only searched after a company survived the first research pass.
- Iteration: the review exposed a bad broad buying-signal query returning unrelated evidence; the next run checked the company's own website instead.
Key takeaway: writing the outreach message is the least interesting part — GPT's bigger value is finding the right company, collecting proof, identifying the buyer, and showing its reasoning so you can correct it before anyone gets contacted.
