Agent plays Factorio autonomously: pause, Lua-test blueprints, screenshot-verify on path to rocket
granawkins · x · 2026-09-07
- A user let an AI agent (Astra) play Factorio with a single goal: pick any seed and deliver a replay file that launches the rocket.
- Workflow: pause the game, load saves on a disposable headless client, test blueprint designs with Lua, write scripts to issue inputs, then unpause; a subagent runs scripts and screenshots verify misplaced belts/inserters.
- Only instructions given: the initial goal plus "use Luna medium for the worker for speed/efficiency". The agent rushed construction robots to import and place blueprints.
- With designs seemingly prepared for all needed research, finishing the game looks plausible; author may later have it coach other runs.
