Mike Frank on AI vs Yu-Gi-Oh!: the card game he once called an AGI benchmark
MikePFrank · x · 2026-09-07
MikePFrank follows up on AI playing Yu-Gi-Oh!, the trading card game he and his son have long argued could serve as a good AGI benchmark — similar in spirit to Magic: The Gathering but, in his view, even more complicated at high levels (his son has played national tournaments). Reacting to the latest match's 'final turn summary', he admits 'OK, now I'm impressed', while suggesting we're probably not quite at world-champion level yet.
