Matt Shumer: I 4x'd my Pro/Max subs as agentic models remove the attention bottleneck
mattshumer_ · x · 2026-09-07
Matt Shumer shares a personal data point: he believes he was once the highest individual consumer of OpenAI models via Codex, and since the new models (Astra, Fable 5.1) launched he has 4x'd his Pro/Max subscriptions and nearly exhausted all banked resets. His thesis: human attention was the last bottleneck on token usage — you can now hand an agent an ambitious goal and return days later to a finished project, so usage is about to go vertical.
