Andy Matuschak rigs his camera with instant printing via a BTLE phone and coding agents

Andy Matuschak shared a DIY project: he rigged his camera to produce instant prints automatically, using a phone locked in his pocket as a BTLE client. It also has a mode that only prints when he "stars" a photo in the camera's playback interface—essentially a print button on the camera.

The project was made possible by coding agents, and he argues they enable a world of many small, focused, personalized devices rather than a single abstracted Everything Machine—bringing Weiser's ubiquitous computing dream closer. Inspired by Polaroid Type 55, which produces both a print to give your subject and a negative to develop, making photography less extractive.
