Coding Agent Turns Camera into Instant Printer, Reviving Ubiquitous Computing Dreams

Andy Matuschak demoed a DIY project: using a coding agent, he modified a camera into a device that automatically instant-prints photos, with a phone in his pocket acting as a BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) client relay—snapping a photo triggers the phone to print; another mode prints only when a photo is "starred" in the camera's playback UI. The project was inspired by Polaroid Type 55 film, which yields both a print you can hand to your subject on the spot and a developable negative; Matuschak says photographing strangers often feels extractive, and giving them a print right away is much better.
