The MineBench.ai maintainer compared GPT-5.6 Sol Pro vs GPT-6 Astra Pro over 15 Minecraft builds:
- Cost: Astra totaled $34.71 vs $710.82 for GPT-5.6 Sol — largely because every Astra build was valid on the first attempt with zero retries, reportedly a first
- Inference time: Astra averaged 40m 12s, slower than GPT-5.6 Sol's 18m 04s
- Output size: Astra averaged 128.53 MiB JSON vs 91.58 MiB
The author argues that despite middling Artificial Analysis scores, Astra may be the biggest single generational jump yet: some builds look photoreal or Blender-like rather than voxel-based; it understands what matters (when to add scenery vs stay focused on the prompt); and it's the most consistent model on text orientation (only the "Atlas" sign on a skyscraper was reversed). The author disagrees with Greg Brockman calling it AGI.
