Codex Astra adds cross-context note persistence to fight context bloat in long tasks
dair_ai · x · 2026-09-06
OpenAI's Codex is introducing a new way for the Astra model to preserve and retrieve context: when the context window fills up, Astra can keep notes across context windows, accumulating details without repeatedly compressing everything into a single summary.
dair-ai's Omar Sansevero recommends the feature, noting that context bloat and compaction are bottlenecks even for the most powerful models like GPT-6 Astra, and that this config helps keep Astra persistent across long-running tasks. Enabling instructions included.
