Boris Cherny, creator of Claude Code at Anthropic, advised users at Y Combinator Startup School 2026 to delete their claude.md file, skills and hooks every 6 months and see what the model does — for Opus 5 he strongly recommends removing all of these, since the model may no longer need the extensive instructions previous models required.
