Claude Pro user says one prompt now burns 50% of the 5-hour limit
Valalat · reddit · 2026-09-05
A Reddit user reports Claude Pro usage deteriorated sharply: with Opus 5 High on a Python project, he previously worked 3–4 hours before hitting the 5-hour cap, but over the last two days a single prompt consumed 50% of the quota, with answers cut off mid-generation.
He suspects recent changes to rate limits and asks for tips on stretching usage, including whether switching to a cheaper model for debugging would significantly degrade results.
